The wine has a clear bright ruby color with attractive, violet, cherry, soy sauce and herbaceous nuances on the nose.
Medium body, the wine is smooth and fresh on the palate with a core of vibrant berry fruit backed by integrated tannins on smooth firm finish.
This wine comes from two parcels in Santenay: “Chassey-le-Camps” and “Lavau.” Lavau is planted half to chardonnay (which goes into the “Retour aux Racine” bottling) and half to pinot noir. For this basic pinot noir, the grapes were co-fermented 10% whole cluster with the rest being de-stemmed. Fermentation lasted two and a half weeks after which it was put into barrel for 1 year, only 10% of which was new.
